How LASIK Works

A femtosecond laser creates a thin, precise corneal flap — a protective layer that is gently lifted to expose the underlying corneal tissue. The excimer laser then reshapes this tissue according to your personalized wavefront map, correcting the refractive error with extraordinary accuracy. The flap is then repositioned naturally, acting as a bandage that adheres without stitches.

The entire procedure is performed under topical anesthetic eye drops and is painless. Most patients describe a sensation of pressure for 20–30 seconds during flap creation, then see a blurred light show during laser ablation.
